Nicholas Richard, ENGIE: “Gas has a future because it is a viable solution for the energy transition”
“We are experiencing successive crises, in a context where we are talking about resilience, climate neutrality and affordability. Energy efficiency is very important. If we do not optimize consumption, we cannot talk about affordability.
Romania needs a pragmatic energy policy. We must think about how we will heat our homes in the future. We are going to have a huge electrification in Europe, and this involves big risks,” Nicholas Richard, CEO of ENGIE Romania said during SIREN 2023 organized by CNR-CME.
“We need to see what Romania’s strengths are and how we can reach the climate neutrality target in 2050. This would mean that we need to reduce emissions by 4% every year. Technological diversification is a source of resilience.
We must act in a coordinated manner at the level of Romania. Gas has a future because it is a viable solution for the energy transition. We can build green gas production capacity, starting from the waste problem at the national level.”
