Moncler Industries Yield opens new factory in Bacau

Moncler announces today the opening of its expanded Bacau factory and of a kindergarten for its employees’ children, strengthening its presence in Romania with an investment of around 10 million euro in building construction.
The new production facility spreads across 8,000 square meters, distributed over two floors in addition to the production site of 16,000 square meters which opened almost eight years ago.
The ground floor of the new facility, of around 4,000 square meters, is dedicated to garment production and is equipped with the most innovative technologies featuring a new manufacturing technique, focused on process efficiency, waste reduction, and continuous improvement for optimized production processes.
The first floor of around 4,000 square meters houses the prototype and the pattern-making departments. It includes a cutting-edge R&D centre which develops innovative construction techniques and advanced features for high performance garments, such as the Moncler Grenoble collection. Also, the department provides dedicated training sessions to the suppliers with the aim of sharing best-practice and increasing production quality. This new investment will enhance the specific professional expertise needed in the production and development of technical clothing that places Moncler at the forefront of the industry.
All the facility production scraps (nylon, cotton, etc.) are collected and addressed to the recycling process in order to be reused as a raw material. Nylon scraps for example can become garment trims, fabrics, visual merchandising tools or furniture like the chairs of the corporate kindergarten.
The production site in Romania, the only site owned by Moncler outside of Italy, produces mainly down jackets that require specific and complex craftsmanship, like the Moncler Grenoble collection and at full capacity, will produce around 30% of Moncler’s annual global outerwear production.
With the new facility which currently accommodates about 230 people, the Moncler Industries Yield capacity is now of a total of almost 1,800 employees. The company is aiming to hire more than 200 additional employees over the coming months.
