Catalin Boghiu, Iasi City Hall: “We want to implement the one app concept next year”
“Digital transformation does not only mean technology, it also means people. No one should be left behind, and education is very important to teach people to use new technologies and applications based on these new technologies.
Our recent efforts are focused on the horizontal axis of a smart city. The one app concept is the one we want to implement next year. We have many applications already developed that we can integrate into a single application and we believe that this will be useful for citizens,” Catalin Boghiu, Digitalization Director, Iasi City Hall said during Smart Transformation Forum organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“We have high expectations from 5G technology. We would not have been able to carry out the projects until now if we had not had a collaboration with civil society and the private environment. 5G technology opens the door to a world with unlimited possibilities. Information and communications are in real time.
Currently, we are running two pilot projects of smart crowd monitoring and intelligent traffic management. We have a traffic management center in Iasi that works well. Through the DigiBuild project, with the help of 5G technology, artificial intelligence and Big Data, we analyze the behavior of buildings over time.
The local authorities know very well the needs of the community and in collaboration with our partners we can develop solutions that will help the citizen. The main goal of our projects is to improve the quality of life.
We attracted European funds of 175 million euros through PNRR, which we used in the energy efficiency of pre-university education buildings, apartment blocks, equipment for schools and kindergartens.
At the same time, we continue the modernization program of the separate waste collection system and investments in energy efficiency. All basic public services can be digitized and will be digitized in Iasi.”
