Elena Lasconi, Mayor of Campulung Muscel: “We have projects of over 30 million euros through European funds”
“Digitization implies investments in education, but also investments in the development of the network. It’s pointless to digitize the city’s institutions if you don’t have a good network.
On the first day of the mayoral mandate, we mobilized the people from the town hall to help the citizens submit their documents for gas. The next day there were hundreds of people in the town hall who did not know how to complete their documents online on the Distrigaz platform.
We managed to expand the natural gas network – without spending money from the local budget – by almost 50 kilometers. Before I became mayor, in 20 years, the network was extended by 5 km with money from the citizens,” Elena Lasconi, Mayor of Campulung Muscel, said during Smart Transformation Forum organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“Then I understood how important it is to educate people and help them use smart devices. We developed special courses to teach residents how to use mobile phones, how to access the Internet, how to access the town hall website, etc.
We have projects of over 30 million euros through European funds. One of them is for the digitization of the town hall, i.e. for the digitization of 300 processes in the town hall.
We will also have a GIS (Geographic Information System) map with all the water and sewage pipes in Campulung, as well as with all the green spaces.
The biggest investment we will make in Campulung is for the digitization and equipment of the schools in the city. We have European funding for this project, but we also obtained funding for the digitization project of the two hospitals in the city.”
