Romania and Ukraine signed a cooperation agreement on digitalization and cyber security
Bogdan Ivan, Romanian Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization and Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine signed an agreement on the development of electronic communications and cooperation between Romania and Ukraine in the fields of digitalization and cyber protection.
The agreement aims to develop strong relations between the two states in the field of digitalization and cyber security, as well as expanding cooperation between Romania and Ukraine.
“Through the Agreement signed with the Ukrainian counterpart, Romania strengthens its position as a regional hub for emerging technologies and cyber security. We are thus laying the foundations of a mechanism through which the European Union will finance concrete technological and knowledge transfer projects to Ukraine, projects in which Romania will be a leading partner”, said Bogdan Ivan, Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization.
The agreement provides the foundation for a close and concrete collaboration of institutions with responsibilities regarding IT&C infrastructure, digitalization, and cyber security in the two countries. The main directions of action aim at:
• increasing the resilience and protection of the digital infrastructure in Ukraine and Romania;
• strengthening the level of cyber protection of the national networks and infrastructures of Ukraine and Romania;
• development of cloud infrastructure for electronic public services;
• exchange of experience in policy-making in the field of electronic communications and emerging technologies.
