ANRE confirms total fines of 537 million RON for 4 companies in the electricity sector
The Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) confirmed in a press release today the financial sanctions for 4 operators in the electricity sector. The total fine is of 537.5 million RON.
ANRE statement: “The Regulatory Committee of ANRE unanimously approved on 19.01.2024 the sanctioning of contravention fines from the turnover of 4 economic operators in the electricity sector, for their non-compliance with the specific legal provisions regarding carrying out transactions on wholesale electricity market.
This measure comes as a result of some investigative actions carried out by ANRE, upon notification to OPCOM made through the ACER Notification Platform.
For violating the provisions of art. 5 of Regulation (EU) no. 1227/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 25, 2011 regarding the integrity and transparency of the wholesale energy market (REMIT), ANRE applied contraventional sanctions to the investigated participants in the wholesale electricity market, in the total amount of 537.5 million RON, as follows:
EFT SUPPLY S.R.L. – fine in the amount of 50.4 million RON.
FREEPOINT COMMODITIES EUROPE LLP – fine in the amount of 22.9 million RON.
NOVA POWER & GAS S.R.L. – fine in the amount of 100.1 million RON.
TINMAR ENERGY S.A. – fine in the amount of 363.9 million RON.
