Domeniile Salameh Renewables to invest 500 million Euro in 220 MW solar park and 223 MW wind park
Domeniile Salameh Renewables, a Constanta based landowner and renewable energy projects developer, received the grid connection approvals from Transelectrica for the development of a 220 MW solar park and 223 MW wind park in Constanta.
This is the largest project of combined wind, solar and storage capacities in the country so far. The parks will be built in stages starting in 2026, and the value of the combined investment will exceed 500 million Euro.
Dr. Nawaf Salameh, Chairman of the Domeniile Salameh Renewables stated: “Our large under-development ‘hybrid’ project of combined 450MW is part of a larger planned portfolio of mixed 1GW capacity under a five-year development plan, as we wish to contribute to Romania’s targets and ensure energy independence and security in South-Eastern Europe. We have recently had extensive discussions with potential strategic co-investors, large players in the global Green Energy industry who wish to invest heavily in the region and in Romania, with us. We also wish to evaluate the issuing of a green bond with the help of the banks we are discussing. We have not considered applying for any kind of state subsidy during the development period but will duly evaluate this option in the future for an EU support scheme. For guaranteeing the performance of the two parks, our experienced and professional development team, has the whole project configured with modern, high quality, equipment from internationally recognized producers. Lately, we have also been discussing with professional EPC contractors for the implementation of the project, properly and timely.”
With a surface covering over 300 hectares, fully owned by Domeniile Salameh Renewables, the Solar Twins Solar Park has a total installed capacity of 220 MW and is expected to produce over 600 GWh of electricity annually.
Similarly, positioned within a geographical area of 5000 hectares, the Wind Fields 36-WTG Wind Park has a total installed capacity of 223 MW and is expected to produce over 700 GWh of electricity annually.
Each project is designed to carry independent 60MWh energy storage units providing a safe and continuous operational framework for uninterrupted production for both parks. The combined renewable energy production unit can supply electricity without interruptions to more than 500,000 households, practically the whole Dobrogea, which means eliminating 450,000 CO2 tones, thus contributing to Romania’s 2030 decarbonization targets. These projects will create around 500 temporary jobs during the construction phase of the parks and over 70 permanent ones once the facilities are put in operation.
Domeniile Salameh Renewables, the agricultural property management company, established in 2004, owning over 2500 hectares of agricultural lands in Constanta, belongs to the family of Dr. Nawaf Salameh, an internationally renowned businessman.
