Sonia Crainiceanu, Wipro: “Managers and employees must be helped to communicate better in this increasingly digitalized environment”
“I want to emphasize this clash between what the companies want and what the employees want. It is an aspect that we have to think about within the organizational culture. We have flexibility, we are talking about a mindset that needs to be changed. Managers and employees must be helped to communicate better in this increasingly digitalized environment. We need to see how we help employees and managers ask more questions. What did you mean? How are you today? How can I help you more? Examples of this kind. We cannot make people live in boxes.
Everyone’s motivation may come from different roots. And we, as organizations, need to make sure we have the knowledge and training to work in this digital world. And I think that’s a responsibility on both the employer’s side and the employee’s side,” Sonia Crainiceanu, Sr HR Manager, Wipro said during HR Conference | Elevating Work powered by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“We need to have mechanisms to measure and, starting from the data we have, start building.
In the context of hybrid work, from my point of view there are three pillars that we must consider. One of them is the feedback that employees give. And based on this feedback, we can really work with the managers. And HR is key in an organization because it is a continuous collaboration in which we reach valid and constructive conclusions about how we can offer support to managers, especially middle management, to make them aware of this part of empathy, support, construction with the individual and with the team.
The second very important pillar for us is the way we look at the workspace. If before we came to the office to be in the same room as the team, I think that now things have fundamentally changed. Because the office is a place where we interact with the team, get to know each other as people, understand our work better, make plans together, I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a place where we interact only socially, but this point is certainly very important .
There is a change in the way we do management. It is no longer about how we look at small tasks. We are looking at how we support employees to perform well and develop skills that they can transfer later. And here we are referring to both technical skills and soft skills.”
