Ondrej Safar, EVRYO Group: “We need to invest in our networks an additional 10 to 15 billion euros in the next 10 years”
“The world is changing; the energy sector is changing. Everyone will be part of the future. Our houses, our apartments, our cars will be part of the energy sector. We will be producing electricity; we will be storing electricity.
The price of produced electricity will be less and less important. The way how we are using and storing electricity will be the key for the costs we will face in the future. We will all have a role to play in the energy future,” Ondrej Safar, CEO of EVRYO Group said at the Energy CEO Forum organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“In the future, it will be far more important that distribution and transmission networks will allow everyone to be part of this energy sector. This is what the energy transition is. It will allow our cars and our homes to be part of that energy sector and to benefit from whatever this might bring.
It’s bringing a lot of unknown for big players. It’s very difficult for us to understand what the price will be we will receive if we build photovoltaic parks now because that sector is changing.
Based on our studies, we need to invest in our networks in the next 10 years an additional 10 to 15 billion euros. We are investing around 500 million euros a year. We need to double and triple that amount to allow the energy transition to happen.
We have great opportunities, but we need a lot of investment not only in networks, but also in new technologies. We are now looking at transformers, overhead lines, but we should focus more on smart investments, smart technologies, and new solutions for customers.”
