Maria Boldor Becomes the New Managing Director of Horváth Romania
- The change comes after Horváth Romania recorded its best results since 2005 last year, with revenues growing by 21%. At the Horváth Group level, record sales were achieved, increasing by 13%.
- Maria Boldor’s professional ascent is intertwined with Horváth’s activities in Romania: she was among the first four employees in Bucharest, climbing all professional ranks over 17 years of her career, leading to her selection among the 70 partners within the group in April 2024.
- The new Managing Partner aims to develop the business in the Romanian market and regionally, increase the client base, and strengthen the team’s expertise.
Maria Boldor, elected Partner within the international management consultancy group Horváth this spring, has also become the Managing Director of the Bucharest team after 17 years with the company. Maria is the first partner to represent Romania at the group level, among approximately 70 Horváth partners, which attests to her level of excellence in consulting and coordinating expert teams, often in projects carried out in multiple countries.
The change at the top of Horváth Romania comes after the best year in the history of the Bucharest subsidiary, which recorded revenues of approximately 8 million euros in 2023, up 21% compared to 2022. The Horváth Group also had record growth in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, reaching sales of 306 million euros, an increase of 13% compared to the previous fiscal year. Horváth’s global activity spans over four decades, in Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and other markets.
Maria’s predecessor at the helm of Horváth Romania, Kurt Weber, decided to pursue other professional opportunities outside the Horváth team.
“I am convinced that Maria’s appointment as Managing Director will boost the activity of the Horváth team in Bucharest, which is on an upward trajectory in terms of performance and is well-positioned to capitalize on growth opportunities in our industry. More and more companies need digital and organizational transformation services, and Maria will maintain our high standards in developing and implementing business strategies, assets appreciated by our clients and for which they recommend us in the market,” said Helmut Ahr, CEO of Horváth.
“I am honored to take the lead of a team of over 70 employees, many of whom have grown from junior positions, and with whom I have achieved numerous professional satisfactions. The Horváth team has grown both numerically and in terms of competencies, similar to our ever-expanding client portfolio and the complexity of the projects we have implemented. We have also developed a strong Controlling team, which serves the entire Horváth Group. These elements represent the foundation on which we will continue to build Horváth Romania’s success story. In my opinion, success is based on establishing trustful relationships with each of our clients, forming the basis for solid, long-term partnerships,” said Maria Boldor, Partner and Managing Director, Horváth Romania.
Throughout her career at Horváth Romania, Maria Boldor has gained extensive expertise in strategic organizational and operational business transformation projects, many of which are regional and international, as well as digital transformation projects. Maria has experience in change management, an essential component of any company transformation project, and has coordinated multiple consultancy projects in Germany, Austria, Serbia, and Croatia, forming the best teams to achieve each client’s goals, combining the skills and specializations of each expert, regardless of the consultants’ nationality or their office affiliation within the Horváth network.
For the future of Horváth Romania, Maria Boldor proposes two complementary objectives:
“I aim to become the first choice for consultancy for companies in Romania and the region for transformation and performance improvement projects, transforming the Bucharest office into a regional hub. We see multiple opportunities in the market that we want to capitalize on by expanding our client portfolio, which requests our management consultancy services, especially on strategy, organizational, operational, and digital transformation, sustainability, and profitability. On the other hand, to achieve the first objective, I will continue to focus on recruiting, developing, guiding, and motivating our consultants. We have always relied on empowering and encouraging consultants to take the initiative, giving them the freedom to decide and take responsibility for their implications. In consultancy, any objective can be achieved with the right team, consisting of colleagues with complementary skills and knowledge, motivated, ambitious, eager to continuously develop, curious, and focused on tangible results for clients. Success in consultancy is achieved in a team, and as a leader, I have learned that it is not enough to reach the top of the mountain alone; you must also lift and encourage others along the journey.”
