Ten years of academic partnership between the founding companies MHP Consulting Romania, Porsche AG, NTT Data Romania and ”Babes Bolyai” University
For over a decade, a successful partnership has flourished, bridging the academic and business environments to offer unparalleled educational opportunities to Transylvanian students. This unique collaboration, led by Babeș-Bolyai University, MHP Consulting Romania, Porsche AG, and NTT Data Romania, has enriched the educational landscape of Cluj with its distinctive programs.
The journey began in 2014 with the launching of the Bachelor’s Computer Science Program in German-Language within UBB’s Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. The partnership expanded in 2018 by introducing the Master’s Program ” Advanced Computer Science Systems: Modeling, Design and Development.” By 2022, the initiative further broadened its reach with two additional German-language study programs within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (UBB): “Business Administration” at the bachelor level and ” International Management” at the master’s level.
Bernd Otto Hörmann, CEO of MHP Consulting Romania, stated: “After establishing the subsidiary MHP Consulting Romania, one of our primary missions was to support the academic environment. Looking back, this was the best decision we could make because of this interdependent relationship between the academic and business environments. Education and the concept of excellence in training occupy an essential place in the culture of the entire MHP group. From our perspective, education must be integral to any vision oriented towards a better future.
Every opportunity to speak directly with the students is a special moment for me. I enjoy meeting them and exchanging ideas about their concerns, and I am often impressed by their skills, both in the technical and entrepreneurial fields. I am inspired by their ambition and desire to leave their mark on the future through innovation. I am delighted that our long-lasting partnership is entering its 10th year. We are committed to continuing this partnership, which fosters the development and training of talents. ”
“This is an important moment for NTT DATA Romania, confirming a solid partnership that started a decade ago. It is a visionary, long-term project whose results are visible over time. Almost 1,000 students and master’s students benefited from this study program and were able to lay down the foundations for their professional careers by acquiring technical skills and improving their knowledge of the German language. We will stay with UBB and continue to support education for all students from Cluj who vocationally choose technical education programs in German”, said Maria Metz, CEO of NTT DATA Romania.
The German-taught Computer Science program is one of the university’s most successful initiatives, and it is noted for its exemplary collaboration between the academic environment and private companies. Over the years, the program has secured more than 600 thousand euros in private sector funding and educated over 900 bachelor and master’s students, becoming one of the most innovative study programs offered in German language at Babeș-Bolyai University. The German-language study line also features an innovation hub under the Science Café brand, which has executed over 50 projects in collaboration with partner companies and universities dedicated to top students studying in the German language.
Prof. Univ. Dr. Christian Săcărea, UBB vice-chancellor, highlighted, “The development of the Informatics Program in German-Language took place in close collaboration with its strategic partners, MHP Consulting Romania, Porsche AG, and NTT Data Romania, which became top employers for the program graduates. This collaboration, based on excellence, is a special premise for continued collaboration in the future, facilitating the creation of innovative projects and providing students with access to high-quality resources and expertise. In addition, the synergy between UBB and the co-founding companies not only improves students’ educational experience but also contributes to the development of the IT industry by preparing well-trained professionals capable of responding to the complex demands of the global market.”
With a steadfast commitment to continuous innovation and adaptation to new technologies, this partnership ensures the program’s international standards are not just maintained but solidified. This dedication to staying at the forefront of German-language IT education is a testament to the program’s quality and relevance, assuring the public of its continued excellence.
