Delgaz Grid to install one million smart meters at its customers in Moldova by 2029
Distribution company Delgaz Grid, part of the E.ON group, will install, in the next five years, about one million smart meters at its customers in Moldova, which means that, together with the lots of smart meters already installed, 85 percent of consumers will benefit from smart energy metering systems at the end of 2029.
Until now, about 426,000 smart meters have been installed through successive programs to customers connected to the electricity distribution network in the counties of Bacău, Iaşi, Neamț, Vaslui, Botoșani and Suceava.
Another 900,000 SMART meters will be installed following the completion of two projects for which financing contracts from the Modernization Fund were recently signed, totaling approximately 626 million RON, of which approximately 433 million RON represent the non-refundable financing.
At the same time, such meters will be installed at new customers, such as those in the prosumer category, at an estimated rate of 10,000 – 12,000 units per year.
Thus, at the horizon of 2029, approximately 1.4 million smart meters will be in operation for customers.
“SMART metering is an important component of the digitalization and transformation of the distribution system, which today faces multiple and unprecedented challenges. The strong increase in the number of active users of electricity – prosumers, those who not only consume, but also produce or manage energy, – implies the implementation of smart grid technologies, these intelligent networks thus allowing real-time monitoring and management of energy flows”, said Cristian Secoșan, general manager of Delgaz Grid.
