EPG Summer School 2024: over 20 young people from around the world and over 20 international experts in the energy sector, gathered in Bucharest

EPG Summer School prepares students and young people at the beginning of their careers, giving them an in-depth insight into the challenges of the energy and climate sector. Coming to its seventh edition in 2024, the EPG Summer School once again brought together young people from all over the world in Romania for 5 days of theoretical courses and practical visits organized by the Energy Policy Group (EPG) Association.

During the programme, lecturers shared their expertise in areas such as climate governance, future challenges for solar and wind energy, industrial and residential decarbonisation, power grids and sustainable finance, among others. At the same time, the students had the opportunity to visit two passive houses, a high-voltage power station, a wind farm, a professional conversion school and a storage facility.

More than 20 international and domestic lecturers have accepted EPG’s invitation to share their knowledge gained from working in companies in the energy sector, public institutions, academia and the NGO sector.

“This year’s edition of the EPG Summer School was a remarkable opportunity to bring together in Bucharest and Constanța more than 20 international and domestic lecturers, as well as 20 young professionals who work or study in the energy or climate field. The participants benefited from a series of courses, training sessions and technical visits, having access to essential information about the challenges and opportunities existing in the European or global energy sector. We were pleased to see how these discussions stimulated constructive debate and strengthened a community dedicated to the energy transition.

This year’s program was designed to provide participants with the knowledge needed to address complex challenges in the global energy sector. And theoretical sessions combined with practical experiences, such as visits to energy installations, facilitating both learning and applied and innovative dialogue” said Bogdan Leu, EPG associate and director of EPG Summer School 2024.

Through the EPG Summer School, EPG aims not only to educate young people, but also to shape an international community of future experts to firmly address climate and energy issues. “At EPG, we believe that continuous education and collaboration are essential to meeting energy challenges. The EPG Summer School not only provides access to valuable knowledge, but also the opportunity to build valuable professional networks that will support future projects in the field.
