Grup Șerban Holding invests 62.5 million euros in a French fries processing plant and expanding the cold storage capacity for vegetables
Grup Șerban Holding, one of the leaders of the agri-food industry in Romania, is investing 62.5 million euros, in the next four years, through two major projects approved for financing by the Rural Investment Financing Agency (AFIR). The projects are intended for the processing and storage of potatoes, to create a perfect synergy between the cultivation, processing and industrialization of the products obtained from their own harvest and beyond.
The Potato Processing Factory project submitted through the InvestAlim National Investment Program on December 24, 2023 and declared eligible for funding on September 24, 2024, involves the implementation of a robotic line for processing frozen fried potatoes and potato flakes in Sascut, Bacău County .
“Companies that stop expanding die sooner or later. Looking to the future, GSH’s next goal in terms of projects is the development of an industry poorly represented in Romania: potato processing for the production of frozen fries and potato flakes,” said Nicolae Șerban, founder of the Șerban Holding Group.
This will be the largest potato processing line in Romania with Romanian capital and will have a capacity of 6 tons per hour of fried potatoes and 1.2 tons per hour of potato flakes, and the production will be intended for both the local market , as well as the international one. The annual capacity of the factory will be 30,000 tons of French fries and 6,000 tons of potato flakes.
Grup Șerban Holding is also working on the implementation of the Sustainable Social Ecosystem system, a revolutionary concept in Romania that will attract and educate local farmers. The aim is to share our agribusiness know-how and invite farmers to explore new opportunities in areas such as vegetable farming, sheep, cattle and egg production.
“Through this initiative, we will amplify the impact of our business model and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint by using efficient and sustainable agricultural technologies, working together for a cleaner environment and greener agriculture”, said the founder of Grup Șerban Holding.
The two projects are synergistic: the processing plant will also use vegetables grown by local farmers supported through the Sustainable Social Ecosystem program.
“The fact that we use potatoes from our own production, as well as potatoes from the production of local farmers, is a major advantage, giving us the ability to control quality throughout the production chain and provide high quality products.” declared Nicolae Șerban, founder of the Șerban Holding Group.
