Transelectrica, close to the completion of a new High Voltage Overhead Electric Line

Transelectrica announced that the construction works of LEA 220 double circuit Ostrovu Mare – RET (new line), which will contribute to the evacuation of the energy produced in the Portile de Fier 2 hydropower plant, are in an advanced stage of execution.

The line has a length of approximately 31 kilometers, a number of 105 poles and crosses the territory of 5 administrative territorial units in Mehedinți County.

104 foundations were made and completed, the physical stage of the investment being 75 percent.

These days, the most complex part of the work is being carried out, namely the section that crosses the Gogoșu Branch of the Danube river, it is about special poles used in such situations, double-circuit, tower-type metal poles, with a double triangular crown (crown type DONAU), which are 66 meters high.

The execution contract has a total value of 49 million lei and was signed in March 2023, with the order to start the works being given in May 2023. The deadline for completing the work is May 2025.

The electrical transmission network managed by Transelectrica currently has a length of approximately 9,140 kilometers of 400 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV overhead power lines and 81 electrical transformer stations. Over the past six years, Transelectrica has built over 400 kilometers of new 400 kV overhead power lines, and by 2030, 740 kilometers of high-voltage overhead power lines are under construction with a total value of over 380 million euros .
