Every summer, Timisoara becomes a center of contemporary jazz, a place where innovative sounds, renowned artists and passionate audiences come together to create a unique musical experience.
JAZZx, now in its 13th edition, continues to innovate by offering a diverse program that celebrates the stylistic richness and talent of Romanian and international artists.
The festival remains a free-to-enter event, open to all music lovers.
After the first announced names – Jacob Banks, The Philharmonik, New Fossils and Zaharenco – captured the attention of the public, the festival continues to unveil its lineup with four exceptional artists, who will transform the three days of the festival into a memorable event.
Béla Fleck, Edmar Castañeda & Antonio Sánchez Trio One Sheet Winner of 18 Grammy Awards (42 nominations / Grammy 2025 for “Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Capella”), Béla Fleck has redefined the banjo, transforming it from a traditional instrument into a vector of musical innovation.
From bluegrass to jazz and collaborations with legendary artists such as Chick Corea, Fleck never ceases to amaze with his sonic explorations. At JAZZx 2025, together with Edmar Castaneda – a Colombian harp virtuoso, known for his collaborations with Hiromi, Paquito D’Rivera and Gregoire Maret – and Antonio Sanchez – a 5-time Grammy-winning drummer, famous for his collaborations with Pat Metheny and the soundtrack to the film Birdman – he comes to create a captivating musical dialogue, full of surprising rhythms, sophisticated harmonies and a special energy. Meshell Ndegeocello She is an exceptional artist, recognized for her talent for combining diverse musical influences, from funk and soul to jazz, hip hop, reggae and rock. Over a career spanning over 30 years, she has redefined expectations.
Winner of this year’s Grammy Award for “Best Alternative Jazz Album” and with 2 other awards and 13 nominations to her name, Meshell has collaborated with renowned artists such as the Rolling Stones, Madonna, Alanis Morissette and many others throughout her career. For her, each show is an opportunity to connect, considering music a bond between people – a principle that is perfectly reflected in the spirit of JAZZx: We Jazz Together.
Adi Oasis Originally from the Caribbean and based in Brooklyn, Adi Oasis is a soul-funk-R&B artist and producer, recognized for her unmistakable voice. Her latest album, “Lotus Glow”, is her most personal and courageous creation to date, combining political and social themes with a captivating sonic aesthetic.
Since 2018, when she began her solo career, she has conquered the public and the specialized critics, being appreciated by Vogue, Elle, Rolling Stone and Wonderland. She has had a strong impact on the live stage, impressing with energetic performances and collaborations with artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Masego, Anderson .Paak, Thundercat and Yasiin Bey. She has taken to the stages of prestigious festivals, including Newport Jazz Fest, Montreux Jazz Festival, Love Supreme, Afropunk and Cross the Tracks, and now she brings this effervescent mix of styles to JAZZx 2025, promising an electrifying show. IOANAx Soultrain A custom project developed by Subcarpati for JAZZx, after SUBJazz (Subcarpati x JazzyBit), emphasizing the unique character of the festival.
It brings a new breath to Romanian folklore, dressing it in the freedom of jazz. Ioana Milculescu’s voice becomes the bridge between tradition and modernity, transforming each piece into an intense and authentic sound journey.
Along with Max K., Mușat, Marcelle Poaty-Souami, Daniel Rădulescu, Radu Pieloiu, Mircea Ardeleanu Jr. and musicians from the Subcarpathian universe, Ioana’s melodies are reorchestrated and reinterpreted, giving folklore a new life. This project rediscovers the musical roots through a contemporary language, creating a captivating experience, full of nuances and emotion. Amphitrio It is a contemporary jazz project initiated in 2020, consisting of pianist and composer Andrei Petrache, bassist Mike Alex and percussionist Philip Goron, instrumentalists with a solid foundation in classical and alternative music.
The story behind this trio speaks of friendship, the pleasure of singing and improvising.
The Amphitrio repertoire contains original pieces written by Andrei Petrache in a modern jazz area, with influences from contemporary northern jazz and Balkan-oriental colors, but also traces of heavy rock and electronic music.
JAZZx is financed and co-organized by the Timiș County Council through the National Museum of Banat, co-financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center
