Ruxandra Lupsa, NXP Semiconductors: “We definitely need technology, but we believe a lot in human interaction”

“We are very reserved when it comes to implementing artificial intelligence processes in the company. We have some security restrictions that do not allow us to implement any new technology that appears on the market. We first have to do tests and verifications, so we are at the chatbots stage for now, and in terms of recruitment, we have not yet implemented anything AI-related in Romania.
We have a few tools in testing, one that we will implement soon is Copilot developed by Microsoft. In 3-4 months at most, it will be implemented in the entire company,” Ruxandra Lupsa, Eastern Europe HR Director, NXP Semiconductors said at Work Compass HR Conference organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
Key statements:
- We definitely need technology, but we believe a lot in human interaction and in the filters that we have as intelligent individuals.
- Companies that produce technology may be the most reluctant when it comes to implementing AI, and I told you why: cybersecurity can be affected.
- In our industry, people work largely out of passion. Work is their passion, which is extraordinary. There are many benefits that we have implemented, but which have not been very useful for employees, and I am referring to the workspace.
- We have a platform where our employees can send suggestions and proposals, we have engagement surveys that large companies generally have. People return to the office if they are asked to do so.
- In an extraordinarily dynamic labour market, we are afraid to call people to the office 3 or even 5 days a week because they might leave for other companies that let them work from home or in other cities.
- I will give you an example from France, where employees have to sign a contract in which they mention how many days they come to the office, but also which days they come to the office.
- How do we protect a middle manager from burnout? By delegating tasks, obviously. You will choose some people from your team and give them a personal development direction to take over the respective responsibilities based on those activities that they like and that charge them with energy. Delegation is extremely important for any middle manager. It is very important to have a hygiene of professional life.
- For us, the people in human resources, it is an extraordinary opportunity to learn from generative AI to speak better, to express our messages better to employees and thus to improve our discourse to the organization. We must see technology as a partner that gives us more time to do what we like, to live our lives.
