ANRE and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest sign collaboration protocol on AI projects

The President of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), George Niculescu, and the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Mihnea Costoiu, signed today, during the third edition of EnergyFest, a collaboration protocol that allows students from the Faculty of Energy to carry out internships within ANRE.
At the same time, the President of ANRE and the Rector of UPB discussed the collaboration between the two institutions to develop artificial intelligence projects through which ANRE can benefit from the advantages of this technology in terms of internal workflows, resolving petitions and informing electricity and natural gas consumers.
ANRE President George Niculescu (photo) stated: “I am very excited about the collaboration we are starting today with the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. Jobs in energy will be increasingly sought after, so it is never too early for institutions in the energy system, such as ANRE, to collaborate with students and universities. The second thing that excites me is the discussion I had today with Rector Costoiu, to whom I told that I want ANRE to become a technological one-stop-shop in terms of information in the energy sector, regardless of whether it is production, transport, supply, distribution. At the same time, together with UPB, which already has projects implemented in this regard, I want us to develop an artificial intelligence tool that will allow us to resolve petitions almost in real time, which will optimize our internal workflows, so that we can be more efficient and with lower costs. Last but not least, using the data that ANRE has and the specialized knowledge, I want to develop together with Politehnica Bucharest, an artificial intelligence project to combat fake news in energy in real time, because this segment is already becoming a theater of battle in the hybrid war. I thank Rector Costoiu for his openness, for his willingness to collaborate and for the warmth with which he welcomed us today at the 3rd edition of EnergyFest”.
