Secretary of State Terente Ciui, Ministry of Economy: “We will definitely continue the state aid scheme for the circular economy”

“The Ministry of Economy launched a state aid scheme for the circular economy in 2022, with a budget of 8 million euros. The funds were distributed to 47 applicants, we are now in the monitoring phase and 256 jobs have been created. We intend to continue this state aid scheme,” Terente Ciui, Secretary of State, Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism said at Circular Economy Conference organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest and Sustainability-Today.
Key statements:
- Our priority at the moment is financing through the PNRR, but we will also try to develop support schemes with funds from the state budget. We have many programs currently underway at the Ministry of Economy. Among them is Start-Up Nation, and the new edition will start on April 15.
- All programs that we will develop in the future will also contain a circular economy component.
- In general, the Ministry of Economy deals with the automotive, textile and electrical and electronic sectors. We have established the action plan for 2025 and will update the national strategy on the circular economy.
- Regarding the NZIA (Net Zero Industry Act), the Ministry of Economy has committed to coordinating this commission at the inter-ministerial level, to monitoring and implementing all European regulations related to this issue, with a horizon of 2030, when we want 40% of the necessary clean energy technology to be produced in the European Union.
- The Ministry of Economy is in constant contact with the business environment, we organize frequent meetings with representatives of the business environment. We are constantly trying to find solutions, to carry out projects through which to finance the development of the economy both through the state budget and through European funds. We will definitely continue the state aid scheme for the circular economy.
