Denisa Panaite Casu, PwC’s Academy Leader in Romania: “The leaders need to explore and practice the coaching approach”
“Our perspective is to take the blend of soft skills and technical skills at all levels across the organization and engage the leadership team into a strong emotional assessment process along with coaching experience. Because the leaders give the tone across all the company’s levels,” Denisa Panaite Casu, PwC’s Academy Leader in Romania, said during the fifth edition of Learning & Development Conference organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“One of the first initiatives that we took was to put our leadership team through a whole process of emotional intelligence assessment and development and coaching. They give the tone and you can have monthly webcasts. The tone you give there is really going to make a difference for the whole emotional climate.
There is much more agility that is needed in my opinion. It’s really important that top leaders realize that it’s not just about educating everyone else in the organization. It’s about role modeling this, whether it’s about digital, emotional and everything else
We sense there are major opportunities to explore in this direction and we need agility to do this. The leaders stand for role models in their organizations and they must combine all the technical skills necessary in their function with the coaching and mentoring skills and practice.
Coaching can broaden the awareness. If a leader is having a coaching approach to someone who is losing their motivation or cannot see the point of doing something, they can explore what is blocking them in that way.
There is an increasing need of creating more awareness, which you could create through coaching, you can create through sharing stories within the company.”
