Romanian Association of Banks (ARB) became an affiliate member of the OECD / INFE
The Romanian Association of Banks (ARB) became an affiliate member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development – International Financial Education Network, starting with April 2021. OECD / INFE affiliate membership status is reserved for non-governmental organizations and non-profit organizations, such as ARB, academia and foundations that have concerns in the field of education and financial education.
“The granting by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development of the status of affiliated member within the International Financial Education Network represents a recognition of ARB’s approaches in the area of financial education programs, in line with the purpose we have assumed as an organization, that to support Romania’s economy and to increase the level of financial education. We want to make the most of the OECD’s expertise and know-how in the field of financial education through future initiatives and projects that will be supported in Romania. At the same time, we will connect with other areas of the world to bring added value, through our own solutions and vision elements. The anchoring of the Romanian economy, by joining the OECD as a state, could lead to the improvement of the premises for economic development ”said Sergiu Oprescu, president of the ARB Board of Directors.
The OECD currently has 37 Member States and is one of the most important forums in the world, working together to promote policies that improve the global economic and social situation.
ARB’s affiliation with the OECD’s International Financial Education Initiative involves priority consultations on financial education documents to be issued by the OECD or OECD / INFE for public consultation, participation in OECD global financial education events and specific sessions dedicated to committee meetings. technical or activities of the OECD / INFE working groups, whenever relevant. ARB is a signatory of the Collaboration Agreement, concluded in 2018, with the Romanian authorities for carrying out joint activities in the field of financial education and the elaboration of the National Strategy for Financial Education.
