Hidroelectrica starts modernizing the equipment at ‘Portile de Fier 1’
Hidroelectrica announced that it has signed the sectoral procurement contract for “Modernization of the electrical installations related to the hydromechanical equipment and the hydraulic drive installation related to the Portile de Fier I overflow dam”.
The work, initially estimated by Hidroelectrica at 65.2 million RON without VAT, was attributed to the association between DSD Noell GmbH (Leader) and UTI Facility Management at 57.1 million RON without VAT, as a result of a public procurement procedure in which the entity winner competed with Romelectro.
”The contract continues the series of major investments from the Iron Gates, after the modernization of the SCADA systems in the control rooms of the PF I and II power plants – investment of about 3.14 million lei, modernization of the Monitoring and Diagnosis system of the Iron Gates I – investment of approx. 10 million lei in progress, and the start of additional protection works at the heat sink at PF I, an investment also estimated at 58 million lei.
The works undertaken today are of structural importance for the objective of Hidroelectrica Portile de Fier I and come to solve the problem of physical and moral wear and tear of some components of the spillway dam and not only. Those obsolete installations, some of which have been in use for over 50 years, will be replaced with modern equipment, incorporating the latest technologies, and allowing automation of operation, electronic monitoring and control, computerization,” said Bogdan Badea, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hidroelectrica.
The modernization of the electrical installations related to the hydromechanical equipment and the hydraulic drive installation related to the Portile de Fier I overflow dam involves the provision of design services, hydromechanical drive installations, electrical equipment, automation systems and integration in SCADA, constructions, related installations, and architecture.
Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of green energy in Romania and the main provider of technological services required in the National Energy System. The company operates a number of 209 plants, with a total installed capacity of 6,482 MW. To these is added the Crucea wind farm, with an installed capacity of 108 MW.
