CONAF: Valcea can reach the top 3 Romanian tourist destinations

Although it is on the seventh position in the top of tourist attractions, Valcea has huge development potential, and the county officials have committed to raise the baton and to position, in the future, the area on the 3rd place in the top of Romanian tourist destinations. In the third public debate, the project “Romanian Tourism: Between impasse and opportunity”, brought together representatives of the business environment at local and national level, those of local and county public administration, to identify solutions to give visibility to the area increased and opportunities to transform into an important tourist pole of the country, benefiting from tourism all year round.”Romanians have discovered during the pandemic that they can have a multitude of attractions in their own country, not only the classic destinations, seaside and Prahova Valley, many of them opting for green tourism in nature, where they benefit from isolation conditions, spa tourism , religious, cultural, rural and agrotourism as a form of tourism. Romania has a major advantage, being among the countries with high tourist potential. We want to find solutions to position tourism as a priority axis of development, which is why we initiated the national project “Romanian Tourism: Between impasse and opportunity”, said the initiator of the project, Cristina Chiriac, president of CONAF. “I believe that together with the local authorities, the entrepreneurs in the field and the decision-makers, we will be able to find the levers for the strategic repositioning of tourism, using to the maximum the potential we have at national level. The collaboration of all the factors involved proved to be a real success within the “Labor Pact” project, resulting in concrete solutions, subsequently applied by the rulers in order to make the labor market more flexible. We want this example of political consensus and partnership between the authorities and the business environment to be followed in the field of tourism as well “, concluded the CONAF president.

The project “Romanian Tourism: Between impasse and opportunity” will continue in October in Suceava, in November in Cluj and in December in Bucharest. The approach comes in support of tourism operators and related services, in order to identify solutions to the problems they face and in order to position Romanian tourism on the axis of sustainable development. The National Confederation for Women Entrepreneurship points out that it initiated this national project in the context in which tourism, severely hit by the coronavirus crisis, is looking for solutions to return to normalcy.
