Five isolated houses in Puntea Lupului village in Harghita now have electricity through the project “Energy for life” initiated by Asociatia Energia Inteligenta & Electrica Furnizare
Asociatia Energia Inteligenta installed photovoltaic panels in five isolated households located in Puntea Lupului village in the Ciucului Mountains, Harghita County, through the second stage of Energy for Life project This was possible due to the support provided by the company Electrica Furnizare which fully supported this stage of the project, demonstrating once again responsibility towards the communities in which it operates and active involvement in the sustainable development of Romania.
“Electrica Furnizare reaches the homes of over 3.2 million customers every day. We are a stable partner and the oldest in the Romanian electricity market. We have grown, we have developed, we have evolved in 120 years together with the communities where we supply electricity. And we also return there to actively contribute to their sustainable development. The “Energy for Life” project is essential for the community living in the Harghita mountains, but also for the Electrica group, which constantly supports the steps involved in the production of energy from renewable sources. We want to continue such collaborations in the future and congratulate Asociatia Energia Inteligenta for the initiative” said Corina Popescu, CEO of Electrica.
“I believe that it is our duty, of all of us, to get involved in such projects with an impact on society, projects that can change the lives of our fellow human beings and that at the same time have a strong social message. The sustainable development we all want can only be achieved by caring for people and the environment. Through “Energy for Life” we managed to change for the better the lives of the beneficiaries of this project, bringing electricity for the first time in their homes, while we used energy from renewable sources. One of the beneficiary houses of our project is inhabited by a family with four children. The amazement and joy we saw in the eyes of the children when they first turned on the light in their home is the greatest satisfaction we could wish for. I would like to thank all those who encouraged and supported us throughout this project and especially the company Electrica Furnizare which made possible the second stage of the “Energy for Life” approach. We hope not to stop here, but to become a tradition and to continue this project in the coming years ” said Dumitru Chisăliță, President of Asociatia Energia Inteligenta.
In Romania, according to information from the Ministry of Energy based on data collected from County Councils and Prefectures, in 2018 over 52,000 households did not have electricity. Of these, about 7000 are in remote areas, too far from the electricity grid to be connected. All funding for the installation of photovoltaic panels excludes households that are less than 2 km from the existing energy network. Thus, about 9000 households in Romania have no hope of seeing electricity.
On its fifth anniversary in June of this year, Asociatia Energia Inteligenta initiated the “Energy for Life” project. In the first stage, with the support of the companies involved in the project, we installed photovoltaic panels in five isolated households in Întregalde commune, Alba county, which never benefited from electricity.
The support provided by Electrica Furnizare also made possible the second stage of the project, in which we propose that by the end of the year, in five houses in the Harghita Mountains, the difference between light and dark will be made by simply pressing a switch.
