Iulius Mall Timisoara is LEED Gold certified for building sustainability
Iulius Mall, part of Iulius Town Timisoara, the largest mixed-use urban regeneration complex in the west of Romania, was awarded the LEED GOLD certification by the US Green Building Council.
The sustainability certification of the entire operating portfolio of IULIUS Company, including the projects under development, is a part of the sustainability strategy of IULIUS Group, focused on approaching three main pillars – environment, investments in people, and community – with an emphasis on corporate governance and business ethics best practices.
With 105,000 sqm GLA, Iulius Mall Timisoara has the largest shopping area outside the Capital, following its integration in the Iulius Town mixed-use complex back in 2019. Thus, a formerly industrial area was revived as a Western lifestyle center via a total investment of 442 million Euro.
“We are delighted that the investments and policies implemented by Iulius Mall helped the company to evolve in terms of ‘green buildings’ and to register major performances in its sustainability indicators. This result is also the best recognition that our projects contribute to creating more sustainable communities and are concrete steps towards a healthier and more people-friendly environment,” said Dan Adrian Chelaru, Group Sustainability Officer of IULIUS Company.
