GreenPoint Management receives sustainability award for the second year in a row
GreenPoint Management, the first company in the field of implementing obligations regarding extended producer responsibility (OIREP), was recognized this year as one of the most sustainable companies in Romania. The organization received Silver Recognition in Romania CST Index 2021, the most important study on corporate sustainability in Romania, conducted by the independent consulting agency The Azores.
GreenPoint Management is the first and only company in its field of activity that is included among the most sustainable companies in Romania CSR Index 2020 and CST Index 2021.
Greenpoint Management has contributed to the proper management of more than 254,000 tonnes of packaging waste by 2020, according to information included in the company’s third Sustainability Report.
The award is given after analyzing non-financial information on sustainability governance, economic, environmental and social impact. The company also received an award for sustainability last year, within the Romania CSR Index 2020, being the first company in the field of waste management in Romania recognized for sustainability.
One point highlighted in the report is good corporate governance, which is essential both for the work of an organization such as GreenPoint Management and for reporting to customers and authorities. The analysis, monitoring and control systems for absolutely all the processes within the company are described. Diversity and equal opportunities were constantly supported during the year 2020: women in management positions registered a percentage of 33%. Also, 12% of the employees got the promotion, which proves the constant development of the team.
“It is a great joy to confirm again, after the distinction received last year, that we remain a company not only performing, but also directly and constantly involved in the change for the better in Romania. We seek to innovate out of a desire to find the most effective solutions for ourselves, our partners and the community, and we are constantly investing in technology and people, despite the pandemic crisis that has affected the entire ecosystem. This distinction honours us and motivates us to continue at the same pace to support the acceleration of the circular economy and the entire system of resource recovery, acting for the environment and human health, “said Irina Ionescu, CEO of GreenPoint Management.
Despite the pandemic context, GreenPoint Management recorded increases in both the number of customers in the portfolio and the quantities taken over to achieve recycling and recovery targets, maintaining its position as the national market leader in waste management in 2020. The activities of implementing the obligations of the producers generated for the company the turnover of 134 million RON in 2020, and the quantity of waste managed registered a slight increase compared to the previous year.
