Alin-Marius Nicolae, ENGIE: “We provide decarbonization solutions and decentralized energy production for our customers”
“ENGIE Romania, with the ambition of a leader in the transition to a neutral economy in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, comes to the aid of its customers with decarbonization solutions and decentralized energy production, using modern digital solutions both in its own activity , as well as in the implemented projects,” Alin-Marius Nicolae, Head of Energy Efficiency & Green Solutions, ENGIE said during Digital Transformation Conference – Energy & Utilities organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“Starting from the development of medium and long-term decarbonization strategies to the implementation, operation and maintenance of the proposed energy efficiency solutions, ENGIE is the partner that supports its customers to achieve the objectives of reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. The supply of green energy through on-site or off-site PPA contracts has a major role to play in achieving decarbonisation targets.
ENGIE’s decentralized electricity or heat generation solutions that use renewable energy sources and transition fuels are customized for each customer. The identification of the optimal solutions from a technical and economic point of view starts from the analysis of the historical and forecasted consumption curves for the future, of the spaces available in the analysed locations, continues with the production simulation with specialized software, ending with the economic calculation for the whole life. ENGIE financing of the proposed installations can be done in a multitude of variants, from instalments to PPA for medium and long periods. The implementation is carried out by ENGIE through the involvement of its local and international specialists. Maintenance and operation involve digital solutions for remote tracking of objectives in order to quickly identify any deviation from optimal operation.
Thus, the partnership with ENGIE offers customers the chance to make the transition to a neutral business in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, while improving their image and economic competitiveness.
We apply the concept of 3Ds every day: decarbonization, decentralization and digitization. The most useful example is a complex energy performance contract that we want to have as often as possible with our clients.
We can imagine a commercial building we enter for the first time. We install a building management system and start monitoring it for at least 6 months. We often use a range of simulation software for both building consumption and decentralized energy production.
We turn this simulation into an energy audit – another service that Engie can offer – and we see what the most interesting measures are.
We do the energy audit and then we come up with investment proposals. We make an energy performance contract through which we assume the reduction of the client’s utility bill, and we will recover our investment through the savings we make.
The process of implementing energy efficiency and decentralized production solutions follows. We also have facility management solutions through which we can make small adjustments during the contract.
The Romanian market for such solutions is not yet mature. We carry out these projects on a pilot level, with ENGIE buildings, but we want to be able to implement our solutions on a large scale.”
