Adina Feclist, Schneider Electric: “We aim to increase the energy efficiency of our factories”
“Resource efficiency is one of our long-term sustainability commitments, in addition to our actions to protect the environment, increase employee and supplier trust and equity among employees, capitalize on future generations, and increase and improve local business.
In addition to other objectives that we have in our sustainability program 2021-2025, in the resources segment there are some projects that we focus on, and one of them is to increase the degree of sustainable raw material by 50 percent of the content of our products,” Adina Feclist, Sustainability Leader, Schneider Electric Romania said during Sustainability Forum 2022 organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“Now we have managed to reach a percentage of 11 percent sustainable content in our products. I would like to add here that we are talking about over a million and a half references in our portfolio.
In addition to this goal, I can also mention the one hundred percent reduction of the disposable plastic in our primary and secondary packaging and its replacement with recyclable cardboard. Here we are at a percentage of 30 percent. We aim to increase the energy efficiency of our factories and sites. We are talking about 183 factories and 93 distribution centers.
So far, we have managed to achieve 7 percent energy efficiency in all factories and distribution centers. Of course, we also want to launch biodiversity conservation and restoration programs, from stopping single-use plastic administrative purchases to planting trees and forest areas.
We have programs that we carry out within the company to reduce waste management and optimization as well as recycling within the entities. Here we can also talk about the targets we have in over 200 Schneider Electric entities.
All these objectives show that resource and energy efficiency not only bring us financial savings but also minimize the group’s exposure to commodity price volatility and supply risk, a risk that can extend to the reliability on which a plant maintains production.
Schneider Electric is a leader when it comes to digitization and energy efficiency. In addition, we have been declared the most sustainable company in the world by Corporate Knights.”
