“Authentic Romania” celebrated International Women’s Day in Paris
A parade of the Romanian folk costume brand “Flori de Ie” took place on June 24, at the Behague Palace, the residence of the Romanian Embassy in France, within the “Authentic Romania” Festival. In a dedicated concept, which has as a central element – thenational bouse “ia” – the traditional shirt, 20 successful women from Romania and France, aged between 25 and 70, in the field of business, diplomacy and culture, paraded in both traditional costumes , as well as in recent creations of the house Flori de Ie, to celebrate the Ia Day.
The 20 outfits chosen for the Paris fashion show by Cristina Chiriac harmoniously combined the past with the present, the tradition with the artist’s vision of the modern woman. The chosen combinations transform chromatically, rewrite the lines, put their own imprint on the personality of each model. “Romania is authentic through our Latin spirit, through our strong and soulful feelings, so beautifully sewn by our women in colorful symbols.
Flori de Ie wants a strong presence of Romanian values. After Havana, London, New York, Abu Dhabi, Vienna, Bari, Shanghai, Bergamo, Dubai, Tokyo, Copenhagen and Ankara, Paris is once again enjoying the beauty of the traditional Romanian port, this time under the brand Authentic Romania. I have the vision of the Romanian language as an emblem of success, of entrepreneurship, of the pride of keeping your soul in sight, anywhere.
We do not create pret-a-porter or high couture, we write the successful woman of these times “, said Cristina Chiriac, the founder of the” Flori de ie “brand, the initiator of the RomânIA Autentică festival and the president of CONAF. For the entrepreneur Ruxandra Șerban, a convinced francophone, the event coincides with the chance to update a purely Romanian symbol in a contemporary context.
„A legend of the Romanians, Queen Maria discovered the value and emotion of our Romanian heritage. He took them all over the world and gave us a reason to rediscover ourselves, to be proud of our treasure. Maria Tănase was another great lover of the Romanian port. I am happy to send you my message now: tradition can be iconic, but it can also be an economic landmark. At a time when the planet is rediscovering the uniqueness of cultures, our worlds can be a fantastic passport to the globalized economy. There is a lot of passion, thirst for beauty, emotion and longing in our lives, but above all they can be an economic capital. There are countless examples of Romanian designers who have taken our creativity abroad. I came here to talk to you about the business potential of our people. It is an emotional connection that can impose us in a global economy, but which appreciates the local specificity and multiculturalism. It is a manifesto in favor of the long-standing economic and cultural relationship between Romania and France. I welcome the initiative of President Klaus Iohannis to enact June 24 as Iea Day. “
The event, organized by “Flori de Ie”, the Romanian Embassy in Paris and the Romanian Cultural Institute, under the patronage of the Permanent Delegation of Romania to UNESCO, was opened by Luca Niculescu, Romania’s ambassador to France.
The project was also supported by the National Confederation for Women Entrepreneurship (CONAF), ANAA (National Association of Entrepreneurs), the Women’s Patronage of Crafts and the Patronage of Entrepreneurs of the Romanian Beauty Industry (PADIR), in partnership with the Cultural Center , Erka, Domeniile Sâmburești, Ploo-n Gură, and as a media partner, Radio Romania International. Hobita, the native village of Constantin Brâncuși, and Iași, the nucleus of Romanian culture and tradition, joined the Authentic Romania event, which is in its fifth edition, held annually on June 24 and 25.
