Constantin Ichimoaei, ABB Romania: “Our EV charging stations are delivered with cloud connection for remote monitoring”
“ABB has over 130 years of tradition and it operates four major business areas: electrification, robotics & automation, motion, and process automation. We used this vast experience to develop mobility technologies. In 2010, we installed the first EV charger in Europe, with a power of 50 kW,” Constantin Ichimoaei, executive manager, ABB Romania said during Green Mobility Forum organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“In Romania, we started doing education on this subject since 2014. We had discussions with the authorities, the private environment for education. In 2016, we installed the first 50 kW EV chargers in Romania. Meanwhile, our portfolio has grown. We have 60 kW, 90 kW, 120 kW, 180 kW, 350 kW stations for electric cars. We also have stations for electric buses up to 350 kW. We are talking about already available technology that can be used in Romania.
ABB has installed over 800,000 charging stations globally. We are the largest producer globally. Last year we opened a factory in Italy, with a capacity of 10,000 charging stations per year, and that factory will be able to deliver stations for the Romanian infrastructure.
All our stations are delivered with cloud connection, customers can monitor them remotely, and for many applications we have also installed load management.
Last year we launched the 360-kW station, which offers a range of 100 kilometres after charging the electric car for just 3 minutes.”
