Daniela Micusan, Majorel Romania: “A leader needs to be a master of change management”
“Leadership is an umbrella which first needs to define the role of the leaders. A lot of people embraced what I did, meaning the role of a humble leader who is only there when duty calls for him but empowers the team to take the ownership.
Leaders need to have empathy, feelings, but also might need to see beyond the new normal and find ways to empower people to take accountability. If you have the luck to have people who are adhering to the vision of the company and follow the lead, you need also to have that spark and to see the moment when they are up for a new challenge or a new role and empower them to take that opportunity, to take the risk and go the extra mile,” Daniela Micusan, Managing Director, Majorel Romania said during People Empowering Business Forum organised by The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“In our organization, we see people giving their best to the context, to their direct interactions. To do so, we need people who are not experiencing quiet quitting and great resignation, common phenomenon in the work from home or hybrid setups.
We did a lot of actions with focus on wellbeing, on how to feel at ease from home, therapy sessions etc.
A leader who wants people to believe and follow needs to be a master of change management, to act agile and to be there with emotional intelligence, to bring out the best in people.
If you give the people the chance to express themselves, to share their opinions and you do brainstorm sessions with them, you will find out that there is an excellent way of adhering to what we need to achieve. Creativity, thinking outside of the box and resilience are key factors to make the team feel part of the journey and not making them tired. The phenomenon of burnout is a danger, and you have the mission to truly care about their feelings and their achievements. A good listener makes you a fine leader and makes people follow you.”
