120 students will have the opportunity to discover the cement industry within a project carried out by the School of Values and Holcim Romania
The School of Values, together with the Holcim Romania Group, is launching the 3rd edition of the “Well-Cemented Professions” project, with the aim of facilitating the integration into the labor market of students with a technical profile, to make young people aware of careers in the field of construction, but also to present them with opportunities for professional and personal development.
The project is addressed to students in II, III and IV years from the technical and master’s faculties of the following university centers: Bucharest, Brașov, Cluj-Napoca, Baia Mare, Craiova, Iași, Oradea, Petroșani, Pitesti and Timișoara, and who are studying the following specializations : Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Automation, Mining Engineering, Civil and Industrial Construction, Railways Roads and Bridges, OSH & Environment, Electromechanical & Electrical and Energy. Students can enroll in the project until February 26, 2023.
During the registration period, young people who are passionate about the technical field and want to learn more about what it’s like to be employed, what opportunities are on the labor market, but also about innovations in the construction sector, can participate in three online webinars with Group professionals Holcim Romania and from the academic environment.
The 120 selected participants will develop their personal skills through the six soft skills workshops, such as: Personal and Universal Values, Emotional Intelligence, Personal Branding, The Future of Jobs in the Cement Industry and Gender Equality, Intrapreneurship and Personal Efficiency.
Alina Cristea, Manager of CSR and Educational Programs within the Holcim Romania Group: “Education is an important pillar of our sustainability strategy, and the Well-Cemented Professions project has proven to be a real potential catalyst for students with a technical profile. We are happy to continue our mission this year as well, ensuring, as always, the opportunity for some of the young people present in the program to later become our colleagues, pursuing a career in a highly competitive and dynamic industry.”
The professionals from Holcim Romania will be with the participants in seven technical skills workshops, where they will correlate the knowledge acquired in the faculty with the requirements in the technical field. The technical workshops are aimed at: Chemical Engineering, Mines, Mechanics, Automation, Concrete & Aggregate Production, Precast & BCA, OSH & Environment.
Well Cemented Professions is a complementary program that integrates personal development workshops and technical workshops held at Holcim Romania workplaces. Personal development workshops are free and supported by trainers with experience in the field, from the School of Values team. The role of workshops is to give students the context to discover their skills and talents for their future career. The technical workshops complement the development ones through the practical component. Students spend five days at one of the Holcim workplaces of their choice, together with specialists, where they put into practice what they learn at university. They also learn how a cement factory works, what key roles Holcim specialists perform and see the entire cement production process”, says Crina Bonea, project manager, School of Values.
At the end of the two workshop sessions, 32 students will have the opportunity to participate in a paid internship program between July 15 and October 15. Students will be guided by a mentor from the department chosen for practice. During the program, they will also benefit from accommodation or an allowance for the cost of rent. The internship program will cover the following specializations: Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, Electronics and Automation, Mining Engineering, Civil Construction, Roads, Bridges and Railways, Occupational Health and Safety, Environment and Construction & Chemistry (silicates). The participants will carry out their activity in Alesd, Campulung and the Somaco workplaces.
