Orange Romania reported turnover of 1.57 billion euros, down by 2.6 percent in 2022
In 2022, the Orange Romania Group achieved a turnover of 1.57 billion euros, down 2.6 percent compared to the similar period in 2021. The decrease in revenues is caused by the impact of the macroeconomic context, but also by the structural decline of some voice and data activities whose level exceeded the growth factors of other services, according to a company report.
On December 31, 2022, the Orange Romania Group offered mobile services to 10.1 million customers, fixed broadband services to 1.2 million customers, and cable and satellite television services to 1.4 million customers.
The end of 2022 meant continued revenue growth from both connectivity and IT&C solutions. IT&C revenue grew 26 percent over Q4 2021, with integration projects and collaboration solutions, equipment hosting, cloud virtualization and cybersecurity among others included in this category. Orange also expanded the portfolio of advanced services offered to companies in 2022 by launching an automated vulnerability detection platform, expanding professional services for the cloud and integrating fixed voice into collaboration platforms.
In line with its strategic commitments made through the #OrangeForward strategy, Orange has also been involved in the local community in 2022 by constantly paying attention to reducing its impact on the environment and by supporting digital inclusion and reducing the digital divide.
Orange continued its initiatives to encourage responsible behavior in the recycling, refurbishing, repair and buy-back of old phones. 300,000 phones were collected through the “Re” circular economy program throughout the year.
At the same time, in order to make resource consumption more efficient, Orange launched a 4-year program to increase the percentage of green energy used in the network. The first communication interconnection centers in the program are in Constanța and Brasov, on the roof of which solar panels have been installed and put into operation, the estimated annual energy production of which is equivalent to the average annual consumption of 100kWh/month of ~110 households.
“2022 was an essential year for the new Orange in Romania, in which we laid the foundations of becoming an integrated convergent operator. In addition to the spring launch of the first joint offer of fixed-mobile services for all customers and the completion of the transition of Orange Romania Communications to the Orange brand, we have taken important steps to offer a unified experience to customers, through the unique contact number 300 and a new design for all our stores and applications, and at the end of the year we managed to add another terminal, by relocating the Orange Romania and Orange Romania Communications teams to two offices in Bucharest.
Despite the challenging macroeconomic context, looking at the full year, resilience characterized our performance, and our objective was to implement clear actions to mitigate the challenges we faced. And because people are the main engine behind our successes, I thank everyone from the great Orange team for their involvement and all the efforts made during the whole year, proving that they are truly One Team”, said Liudmila Climoc, CEO of Orange Romania.
