George Niculescu is the new president of ANRE
Romanian MPs voted for the new leadership of the National Energy Regulatory Authority. The new president of ANRE is George Niculescu (PNL), elected with 256 votes for and 24 votes against.
Gabriel Andronache (PSD), the current director of Transelectrica, was elected vice president, with 263 votes for and six votes against. Andronache replaces Zoltan Nagy Bege.
Sorin Bumb, PNL senator, the vice-president of the Commission for energy, energy infrastructure and mineral resources in the Senate was elected (260 for and 80 against), together with Cornelia Sulger (244 for, 96 against) will occupy positions as members of the Regulatory Committee of ANRE.
George Niculescu is from March 2021 state secretary in the Ministry of Energy. At the same time, he is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Hidroelectrica and a member of the Board of Directors of the Port of Constanța, positions he will give up after taking over the management of ANRE.
He has a degree in law and a master’s degree in business administration in the field of energy, at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.
