Orange Romania Group reported consolidated turnover of 383 million Euro, down 0.7 percent in first quarter
Orange Romania Group achieved, between January and March, a consolidated turnover amounting to 383 million Euro, down 0.7 percent compared to Q1 2022. The results of the quarter reflect the increase in sales of equipment and fiber optic services, but also the decrease in income due to the reduction in termination rates and the structural decline of some services that no longer meet the needs of the market, according to a press release.
On March 31, 2023, the Orange Romania Group offered mobile services to 9.9 million customers, fixed broadband internet to 1.2 million customers, and cable and satellite television services to 1.3 million customers.
“Resilience characterized our results from the first quarter of 2023, during which we directed our investments towards the area of network, innovation and digitization, with an emphasis on the expansion of the high-speed Internet and TV network through optical fiber. Although the global economy is going through a difficult period, felt also in the way customers consume, we are glad that we were able to provide them with quality services to improve their user experience in our ecosystem. We will continue to support the digital development of Romania, a priority objective for the company, and contribute to the creation of a sustainable and inclusive digital society, vital for us, but also for tomorrow’s generation. Orange mobile and fixed network expansion efforts continued in the first 3 months of the year: 4G coverage reached 98.71 percent of the population, while 4G+ coverage reached 80.87 percent of the population, by expanding services in 143 new urban and rural localities. As for the 5G network, from this quarter Arad and Sibiu benefit from 100 percent coverage, the total number of cities with 5G connectivity reaching 28. Also in this quarter, 218 new localities received access to the best high-performance internet services speed and fiber optic TV.
For Orange Money, the digital financial services application, Q1 2023 meant a total of 1.6 million transactions that reconfirmed the digital profile of customers. Of these, both online and mobile transactions grew by nearly 30 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
