PepsiCo Romania’s fleet reaches 80 percent hybrid vehicles
PepsiCo, a global leader in the food and beverage industry, announces 80 percent of its Romanian fleet has transitioned to hybrid vehicles, marking progress in line with the company’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions in its global operations by 2040.
“In PepsiCo’s journey towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, integrating a hybrid fleet in Romania represents a significant contribution to reducing our carbon footprint. By electrifying our fleet we’re helping to lower emissions moving forward, while gaining valuable insights into the infrastructure, charging, and training needed to succeed. Choosing the right partner is essential, and Toyota Hybrid stands out with its intelligent technology designed for efficiency and performance”, said Daniel Drăgușin, Supply Chain Director, PepsiCo Romania.
Currently, PepsiCo Romania’s hybrid vehicle fleet consists of nearly 450 Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris hybrid cars.
“Toyota is a pioneer in hybrid technology and a brand renowned for reliability, and we are thrilled that PepsiCo Romania has chosen a Toyota Hybrid fleet. Together, we are heading towards Beyond Zero, the plan of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) for a future that goes beyond zero emissions, bringing benefits for the environment and mobility for all”, stated Mirela Grigore, Head of Digital Marketing, Toyota Romania.
According to Toyota data and guidance, by the year end, PepsiCo anticipates a 15 percent reduction in CO2 emissions generated by its vehicle fleet in Romania compared to 2022, and a 46 percent decrease from the 2015 baseline. Looking ahead, plans for 2024 involve continued investments in infrastructure and the installation of new charging stations at PepsiCo locations to support the growing hybrid fleet.
