Eurowind Energy finalizes the initial foundation of the Pecineaga wind farm
The Danish developer and operator of wind, solar, and hybrid projects, Eurowind Energy, finalized the first foundation of the 48 MW wind farm in Pecineaga. Scheduled to become operational in 2025, the wind farm in Constanța County will incorporate a total of eight foundations corresponding to the eight turbines.
This achievement marks a crucial step in the progress of the renewable energy project, which involved a total investment of 79 million euros from Eurowind Energy A/S, through WEP Technology Investment SRL. With the objective of generating economic and sustainable benefits at the national level and for local communities, each of the eight wind turbines corresponding to each foundation in the wind farm built by Eurowind Energy will have the capacity to supply green energy to 6,000 households, totaling 48,000 households for all eight turbines.
Moreover, with an annual electricity production of approximately 176,000 MWh/year, the final project will consist of eight Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-170 wind turbines. This type of wind turbine is currently the largest in Romania, with an individual power output of 6.6 MW, a rotor diameter of 170 meters, and a total tip height of 220 meters.
The construction phase of the first foundation is estimated at approximately 0.9 million euros, with the process being carefully coordinated by a team consisting of 42 engineers and specialized workers. Eurowind Energy specialists have focused on adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety during the execution of the works. Additionally, the maintenance of the wind turbines will be managed by the German manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, under a service contract concluded for 20 years.
“We are proud of the progress of the Pecineaga wind farm construction, our largest wind project at the local level. We will continue to work closely with the authorities and the local community, ensuring the long-term success of this project. By installing the largest wind turbines in Romania, Eurowind Energy strengthens its position as a pioneer in the use of advanced technology for the development of the wind industry, accelerating the transition to a more sustainable economy.” said Adrian Dobre, Country Manager Romania of Eurowind Energy.
