“The order approving the Contracts for Difference scheme was published in the Official Gazette. It foresees the development of 1000 MW of onshore wind capacity and 500MW of solar this year and another 3000 MW next year. The next step will be to issue the order on the approval of the auction rules, where both the conditions of participation and the maximum exercise prices will be included,” announced Sebastian Burduja, the Minister of Energy.
“This financial support mechanism, financed by Romania through the Modernization Fund, a first at the European level, is an essential tool for Romania’s green transition and the modernization of the national energy system. It is also a milestone within the PNRR. Since the beginning of my mandate, I have been determined to capitalize on these opportunities, to launch programs and state aid schemes, to finance much-needed investments in the energy sector. Through our current efforts, Romania can become the main energy player in the region.
The motto of my mandate remains: investment, investment, investment. In these months of mandate at the Ministry of Energy, the total amount of investments financed for the energy system through the Fund for Modernization and PNRR exceeded 25 billion euros.
We continue at the same pace. We are focusing on promoting the calls already launched through the Fund for Modernization and PNRR for self-consumption, battery storage, rehabilitation of electricity networks, modernization of heating networks and CETs.
We don’t stop here! We will start new calls through which we offer opportunities to the private and public environment to obtain financing for energy efficiency projects. These investments are essential for all Romanians, as well as for the economic environment. They ensure the stability of the energy system and access to clean energy at a fair price.”
