Florin Verboncu, ALRO: “We are optimistic about 2025, we want to expand on the North American market”
ALRO, one of the largest vertically integrated aluminium producers in Europe, has contracted a series of orders on the North American market, which it will deliver starting next year, and the prospects are optimistic for 2025, according to Florin Verboncu, General Director of Vimetco Trading.
ALRO representatives participated in the Aluminum Exbition between October 8-10, which took place in Dusseldorf, Germany. The event brought together over 800 exhibitors and partners from 50 countries, aluminum producers and processors, as well as recycling experts.
“For me, the prospects for 2025 are optimistic. We already have contracts, especially for the North American area. The North American market for us has been a more difficult target in recent years, for several reasons, the high cost of transportation, the competition from China and other very competitive areas. This market was dominated by Chinese manufacturers for years. We were a well-known manufacturer in the North American area, we started to renew our friendships with our former partners,” said Florin Verboncu.
“The American market is going well now and for the first quarter of next year we already have contracted orders, which we will deliver starting in January. We have potential that we can capitalize on. We already have orders, generally in the area of flat products, in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The entire North American market is starting to show signs of awakening and for European producers, obviously we are not the only ones selling there. But the American market for us was, historically speaking, a large market, representing before the pandemic, in 2019, approximately 10 percent of the total sales of flat products. As a target, we are trying to gradually approach the 10 percent”, added Verboncu.
Florin Verboncu graduated from Academy of Economic Studies in 2002, where he majored in Business Administration and he is also a graduate of an Executive MBA organized by ASBUSS in partnership with Kennesaw State University, Atlanta, USA, class of 2018.
He joined Vimetco Trading team in April 2009, being in charge of processed aluminium products’ sales to the North American market and various European markets. He has also coordinated the processed aluminium products’ sales to sophisticated industries, such as aeronautical industry.
