Inauguration of the exhibition space dedicated to Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu and the launch of the book “110 years of natural gas transport in Romania” (P)
The Intelligent Energy Association in collaboration with the Natural Gas Museum and the Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu Association organized two exceptional cultural events on December 13, 2024, at the headquarters of the Natural Gas Museum in Mediaș. Within the exhibition “IN MEMORIAM Mihnea Marian Constantinescu”, visitors will have the opportunity to admire a series of books written by Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu, diplomas, photographs, distinctions and awards of excellence of his reign. Mr. Mihnea Constantinescu was born in Bucharest in 1961. He graduated from the Faculty of Energy of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, obtaining the title of Doctor at the same University. He contributed substantially to the successes of Romanian diplomacy, from the positions of Director General for Political Affairs, Coordinating Secretary of State, Director of Cabinet of several Romanian Prime Ministers, State Counselor, Ambassador and Representative with Special Assignments for Energy Security. For his outstanding merits, he was promoted by the President of Romania, in 2002, to the highest diplomatic rank, that of Ambassador. Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu died on November 18, 2018, at the age of 57, in Nice.
Cora Minodora Stăvărescu, President of the Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu Association: ,,On this special day, December 13, a day when he would have happily celebrated his coming of age, we have the honor and privilege of inaugurating a corner of the museum that bears the name of a man with a remarkable story and a deep love for Romania: Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu.
I fondly recall the dedication and passion with which Mihnea Constantinescu served Romania, both internationally and in the hearts of every person who knew him. He was a man of consummate integrity, a man who deeply loved our country and who worked with confidence and optimism to face its challenges and to contribute to building a better future.
It is a special honor to witness the opening of this corner of the museum, dedicated to his memory. Here, at the Gas Museum, a symbolic place for the evolution of Romania’s industry and economy, the name of Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu will remain linked to the values that he promoted throughout his life: responsibility, respect and love for the country.
Mihnea Constantinescu understood, more than many of us, that the progress of a nation depends not only on natural resources or economic achievements, but on people and the way in which they support each other to achieve common goals. He was a promoter of dialogue, collaboration, and mutual understanding between nations. His work, whether in diplomacy, energy, education, or civic engagement, left a deep mark on the souls of each of us who had the chance to know him.
I would also like to emphasize on this occasion that this museum corner is a symbol of the continuous connection between the present and the past, between his achievements and the future we are building. It is a place where his memory will be preserved and where the youth of Romania will be able to learn about a man who worked wholeheartedly for the good of this country.
Together, as a family and as an association, we wanted to transform this initiative into a living tribute, a place where the story of Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu will be transmitted to those who did not know him personally, but who will understand what it means to put Romania first and fight for the values in which he believes.
In conclusion, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the creation of this museum corner: the Intelligent Energy Association, the Gas Museum, the George Baritiu Institute, the Cluj Branch of the Romanian Academy. Each of you is part of this project, which not only honors the memory of a great man, but also inspires and will inspire many people to deepen their love and respect for Romania.
Mihnea Constantinescu will always live in our memories, in his deeds and in the spirit of this place dedicated to him.’’
