Georgian Bâlă, a professional with over 15 years of experience in HoReCa and FMCG, returns after seven years within the local team and takes on the role of Managing Director of Julius Meinl Romania. Georgian Bâlă’s appointment to lead Julius Meinl’s local operations takes place in a strategic context of consolidating and expanding the brand on the local market, with ambitious growth objectives. In this regard, one of the main directions of his strategy will be the development and consolidation of the Julius Meinl Romania team, ensuring that the organization is prepared to face the challenges of the market with long-term development objectives.

Georgian Bâlă will coordinate the expansion of the brand’s presence in the HoReCa channel, continuing to capitalize on the opportunities in this key market sector. At the same time, he will accelerate the performance in the Retail channels, given their potential to support the company’s continued development. Georgian Bâlă will also support the brand’s expansion into other channels with growth potential to contribute to strengthening Julius Meinl’s leading position in the premium coffee market in Romania. Georgian Bâlă has a career spanning over 15 years in multinational and entrepreneurial companies in the HoReCa and FMCG sectors.
With extensive expertise in business management, sales and operations, the new Managing Director Julius Meinl has led teams in various industries, with operations exceeding 20 million euros annually and teams of over 500 people. Prior to his current position, Georgian led the Petru coffee chain and developed the HoReCa channel and export operations of the manufacturer FrieslandCampina. Julius Meinl, a family business founded in 1862 in Austria, operates in over 70 countries worldwide, and in 40 of them it is in the top 3 premium coffee brands and is the market leader in the premium segment in Austria, the Adriatic countries, Central and Eastern Europe and Dubai. Today, over 2 billion people enjoy a cup of Meinl coffee every year, at home or in partner locations, savoring special moments and an experience inspired by its Viennese origins. In the coming years, Julius Meinl sets itself new ambitious goals locally, such as expanding the partner café segment, but also developing the Retail area.
