Within the event, The CONAF’s president, Cristina Chiriac stated that: “The Romanian women entrepreneurship is in the top rankings in the European Union. CONAF is in the top 10 confederations of its kind in the European Union. There is a partnership that we greatly appreciate, the partnership between a woman and a man, so this evening’s theme is equal opportunities, gender equality. Women are involved in all key areas, whether we are talking about IT or the heavy or light industry, you will find them everywhere trying to bring balance. In fact, this is what we do, we build a balance, we harmonize the Romanian society from all points of view, and my final message tonight is related to the coagulation of the employers’ environment because, the only solution for Romania to become an important player worldwide, to be competitive, is to encourage development of a strong class of entrepreneurs”.
HE Ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt stated: “We know that the most successful companies worldwide such as Apple, Google, Skype, etc. are characterized by the greatest diversity among employees. This is even reflected in Germany in the IT sector, where about 17 per cent of employees are women. However, we are overtaken by Romania, where the proportion of women in IT is 24 per cent. In my opinion, these numbers convey three clear messages: the main thing is diversity, second is that no one holds the monopoly on the truth and finally, we must learn from successful women”. During the event, Ms. Abigail Rupp concluded that “unlocking the full potential of women in the global economy could increase global gross domestic product by one third. This represents 28 billion US dollars, which is the equivalent of merging the economies of the United States of America, Germany, Italy and Romania put together”
