ANRE is analysing the possible elimination of the technical connection approval (ATR) from the electricity grid connection procedure

Network operators would no longer issue technical connection approval (ATRs) in the network connection process, with the regulation to be amended to reduce bureaucratic procedures, according to George Niculescu, the president of ANRE, who underlined that for now this is a proposal that is being reflected on.
“We are considering a new amendment to the connection regulation in the sense of waiving ATRs. We have this proposal on the table, we are reflecting intensely at the level of specialists of the Authority, and if it convinces us, we will go through all the decision-making transparency procedures. We will see if it meets our desire to reduce bureaucracy, to have shorter deadlines, both for producers and for consumers,” George Niculescu, president of the Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) said during a debate organized by Financial Intelligence and the Federation of Energy Utility Companies Associations – ACUE.
The ATR is one of the first documents issued by the network operator, transmission or distribution, for the process of connecting a production or consumption site. It is issued, at least for investors who wish to put electricity production capacities into operation, for one year – with the possibility of being extended, upon request.
