Romanian coffee brand Meron targets 4 million Euro turnover, up 60 percent in 2020
Romanian coffee shop brand Meron forecasts a turnover of 4 million euros for the current year. The growth target of 60% compared to the value of 2019 is based on ambitious plans for expansion both nationally and internationally.
The brand intends to open 8 new locations in the country, in Târgu Mureș, Cluj-Napoca, Brașov, Bistrița, Bucharest and Sibiu.
The business has doubled its value in the last two years, from 1.2 million Euro turnover in 2018, to 2.5 million Euro at the end of last year.
In 2019, Meron inaugurated its own roastery in Cluj-Napoca, along with 3 locations in Oradea, Cluj-Napoca and Zalău. With 80,000 customers a month, a team of about 100 employees and the potential to open 30 locations over the next 5 years, Meron aims to expand internationally.
“We want to make a change in the perception of the coffee drinking routine. We are glad to see that the mission we undertook 5 years ago, to promote the specialty coffee, bears fruit. We will continue to invest in quality coffee sourced directly from producers and fried in the Meron roastery, in the constant education of our barista team and in open locations close to Meron coffee consumers,” said Bogdan Ciocian, Founder & CEO Meron.
The story of the Meron brand started in 2015, when a team of Cluj investors created a unique concept for the specialty coffee space in Romania, outlining the first location of a chain to be developed in franchise. In 2019, Meron already has 12 locations: 7 in Cluj-Napoca, 1 in Bucharest, 1 in Satu Mare, 2 in Oradea and 1 in Zalău, being among the first franchises to cross Transylvania’s borders.
