CEZ pulls out of Romanian non renewable energy production
Czech energy group CEZ has put up for sale its 9.12 per cent stake in Romanian nuclear energy company EnergoNuclear, which was set up to build two new nuclear reactors at the power station in Cernavoda, Constanta county October 2010 - From the Print Edition
This is part of CEZ’s plan to concentrate on investments in the Czech Republic and develop its existing international energy portfolio, including wind parks in Romania.
“We will possibly build one nuclear unit in Slovakia with the Slovak Government, but no other major project in Europe, at least for the next five years,” Tomas Peskac, second vice-chairman of the board of CEZ told The Diplomat in August.
Last July CEZ also abandoned its proposal to build a new 400 MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant in Galati on the site of thermo plant CET Galati, close to the steel factory of Arcelor Mittal.
CEZ is currently investing 1.1 billion Euro in developing two wind parks with a total installed energy potential of 600 MW in Fantanale and Cogealac, Constanta county – with the first 139 turbines in Fantanale due to be ready by the end of 2010 and 101 turbines in Cogealac for 2011.
CEZ is also active in the Romanian energy distribution and supply business.
