Austrian Post acquires Postmaster

The Austrian National Post Service has increased its share in Bucharest-based Postmaster from 20 per cent to 100 per cent, ahead of next year's market liberalization. "The acquisition of Postmaster will extend the presence of Austrian Post at the moment of the liberalization of the postal market in Romania, on January 1, 2013," said Austrian Post vice president Andreas Dragosits. Austrian Post acquired the shares owned by three private investors, but the transaction has not yet been reported to the Trade Registry. "The documents regarding the transaction were signed at the beginning of the month and in a few days the new shareholding structure will be registered at the Trade Registry," said Dragosits. The Romanian Post has the exclusive right to provide postal services involving items of correspondence weighing less than 50g, which are subject to a lower rate of two lei until the end of the year. Postmaster was established in 2007 and posted a turnover of about ten million Euro in 2011.
