Giant retail and leisure complex
due for north capital
CHITILA United Kingdom-based
Modus Properties, with local partner
Nova Imobiliare, is planning a 408
million Euro retail and leisure destination
in north-west Bucharest, with
design aiming to be ready for the second
half of 2006 and construction to
start in Spring 2007.
Over 150,000 square metres of
gross letable area on a 600,000 sqm
plot, the Colosseum Center aims to
have over 200 shops, a cinema, restaurants,
bars, coffee shops, family
play areas, bowling and 6,000 car parking spaces, including multi-storey
car parks.
Manchester-based Modus will also
build up the local public infrastructure
to and around the development
in the Chitila area, such as a tram and
bus station, 12 km of new highway
and tram links to the centre from the
existing road network.
The development plans to house
retailers from top European branded
fashion houses, anchored by a hypermarket,
a DIY Store, electrical
retailer, and sports shops.
