Appointments

Mr. Mihai Razvan Ungureanu is the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. Born in 1968 and currently a member of the National Liberal Party, Ungureanu has worked as secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 1998 and 2001. He was appointed as president of the Romanian Institute for Strategic Studies in 2001 and as deputy coordinator of the South Eastern Cooperation Initiative (SECI) in Vienna in 2003, while also working as a ministercounselor. Ungureanu studied at the Centre for Jewish and Hebrew Studies, St. Cross College, Oxford University and has a PhD in History-Philosophy from “Al. I. Cuza” University, Iasi.
Mr. Nikoloz Iashvili has been appointed to Consul and Senior Counsellor at the Embassy of Georgia in Romania. 43 year-old Iashvili previously worked as Consul at the Consulate General of Georgia in Bulgaria and Turkey and deputy director at the Department of International Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. A Tbilisi State University graduate in Geography- Geology, he is a married, father of two sons who enjoys travelling, football and seventies music.
Mr. Ene Dinga is the new Minister of European Integration. Born in 1956, he is a member of the Democratic Party (PD) within the DAAlliance. He has a PhD in Economics and has been University Lecturer and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Finance, Banks and Accountability at the “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University, Romania. Between 1998 and 2001 he was general director of the General Department for Internal Audit in the Ministry of Finance. Previously he has worked at the State Planning Committee and at the National Institute for Economic Research.
Mr. Herve Bolot has been appointed Ambassador for France to Romania. Born in 1945 in Morocco, he is married with one daughter, has a degree in history at the University of Paris and a master's in geography. Previously he was first secretary for the French mission to the United Nations. During 1995-1997 he was diplomatic consul of the French Ministry of Interior and, between 1997- 2002, was ambassador to Congo. His last position before Romania was as cabinet director in the French Government.
Mr. Zurab Beridze has been appointed as Ambassador of Georgia to Romania. The 46 year-old doctor in the History of International Relations and Foreign Policy has been Director of the International Organizations Department at the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, senior counselor at the Permanent Mission of Georgia to the UN and director of the Second European Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pastimes include jazz and football.
Mr. Athanassios Dendoulis is the new Ambassador of Greece to Romania. also Born in 1954, he has a degree in economics at the Athens University. Previously appointed to the Directorate for NATO in the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to the delegation of Greece at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg as Deputy to the Permanent Representative, he was also consul general and first counsellor of Greece in Geneva. He has been head of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Directorate and head of Latin America and Caribbean Directorate, both in the Greek Ministry of ForeignAffairs.
