Baneasa Airport to switch from low-cost to VIP from 2013

Bucharest’s Baneasa-based Aurel Vlaicu Airport will switch from a low-cost flight hub to a private jet and business airport from 2013, according to the Ministry of Transport. The Ministry says the low-cost aircraft will continue to fly from Henri Coanda airport in Otopeni, which will mean an increase in tickets of 4.5 Euro. The Ministry says a one million Euro investment will be necessary for the development of the terminals, heliport, control towers, hangars, maintenance and parking areas and the reorganisation of the nearest Metro station. The vast majority of flights will be for private business and will have a small occupancy.
