“For us Romania is one of the most promising solar markets in Europe,” Fraga told The Diplomat.
By 2013 the company also expects to bring to operation a total of 75 MW of installed power in photovoltaics in Romania.
Currently the firm is the single photovoltaic producer registered on Romania’s power exchange Opcom, with its one MW solar park in Singureni, Giurgiu county.
However the company is waiting for Romania to pass its renewable energy law – which has been on hold for two years. This law increases the incentives given to solar power production sixfold under a power supplier-backed subsidy scheme.
“When the law comes fully in place, Romania will become one of the most interesting markets to develop and operate competitive photovoltaic installations.” says Fraga.
Romania has a target of installing 260 MW in installed power in solar by 2020.
